Install Windows 2K
1- Planning for Win 2K Professional
Minimum requirements:
* RAM 16MB (recomended 32 - 64 MB)
* Processor CPU 166 MHz
* Harddrive space 650 MB (recomended 1 GB)
* CDrom (Not Require but recomended)
Work Group
* No central server
* Work group Name
* Our work group name NET122-01
Domain
* Has central server
* Domain Name
Drive Partition
* Important to plan for future growth on hard drive
- Difficult to adjust size of system partition
* Two types of Windows partitions (after installed the windows operating system,
you these partitions can not be change)
- System partition (always on C: system with FAT16 for easy recover in
case the file get damage)
* Files that boot win2K
* NT Loader
* Boot.INI
- Boot partition NTFS (can be on another drive ie. D:)
* Files that run Win2K
* Winnt folder
4.3 GB
* Dos -> 600 MB
* Win 2K -> 2 GB
* 1.7 GB
* Use fdisk to create d drive for win2K (about 2 GB)
* Format d:
* made directory in d: name Win2kPro
* c:smartdrv (this will speed up the process of copying files)
* From Win2K CDrom c:xcopy e:i386*.* d:win2kpro*.* /s
* After finished copy all files, from d:win2kprowinnt setup.
Network Protocols
* Dedice which protocol our network will run
- TCP/IP
* Protocol Information
- IP address -> 10.0.1.17
- Subnet -> 255.255.255.0
- Default Gateway -> 10.0.1.1
- DNS Server -> 168.156.112.11
* CD Key
2- Process
* Administrator Password (write down the password exactly when set up. If lost then have to set up all over again)
- Never forget the admin password
- Suggest to use password for password
3- Configuring the system to suite the need for clients.
